THE BATTLE FOR THE MIND  

 

 

There is a battle going on in the world that we live in. It is not a physical battle; it is a battle of the mind.

 

Our mind is the most powerful organ in our system. The brain helps us to:

1.      Reason

2.      Focus

3.      Meditate

 

“Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God” Romans 10:17. WHEN WE HEAR THE WORD OF God, we accept it and give our Hearts to God. But, it is not the heart that decides weather Jesus should come and stay in it, when we hear the word of God, it go straight into our brain and there it is processed before it is sent into our hearts.

 

When our minds process the word of God, we then become transformed by the renewing of the mind.

 

Roman 12:2 “Be ye not conformed to the world’s standard, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...

 

God want us to be transformed. The only way HE can do that, is to have our minds. We can not be children of God whiles our minds are on the things of this world.

“The carnal mind is an enmity to God. Romans 8:7

 

The devil knows exactly the power the mind posses. He therefore out there to destroy the mind.      

           

“…I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10    

 

Jesus came to offer life to all. God desires that all HIS children lead happy and fulfilling lives.

                                                                                 

BUT...!! The devil came to destroy and Kill

It is a battle between God and Satan for your Mind. The price of control is the MIND, the one, who has your mind, has your heart and your allegiance.

 

God wants your mind.
...be ye transformed by the renewing of your MIND...!!!  Rom. 12:2

 

The Devil, since Eden, has been fighting with God over our minds so as to win our allegiance.

The devil has been using the agency of the mind to destroy people for a long time.

 

 

 

WHAT DOES THE DEVIL USE        TO WIN OUR MIND?

 

There are so many ways that the enemy uses to destroy the minds of people. Some of these include: Hard drugs, alcohol, indecent dress, movies etc.

But this presentation seeks to explain how the devil is using music to destroy the minds of people in our generation. Music is one of the common ways that the devil uses to infiltrate the minds of people today.

The type of music you listen to will determine what your values will be and ultimately what you will become.

 

How DOES music affect the mind?

According to Dr. Roy H Williams (a neurologist), the mind is divided into TWO part, The Left Brain and the Right Brain.

 

The left brain is known as the ‘sceptic’, that is your conscious thoughts, logical analysis, and awareness. This is the part of the human brain that does not accept everything, its deciphers information and picks what is right before it is stored.

 

The right brain is the subconscious part of the brain that receives everything.

This part is always recording and receiving. The information is then sent to the left brain where the unwanted information is thrown away.

The danger is that, the right brain is able to influence the left brain to accept just anything when the information is put to music. This means music is able to put information in us without our permission

 

The Bible says in 1 Peter 5:8, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

 

The devil is seeking for whom he may destroy. He actually does not have any power over any one to destroy them; he can only destroy us when he gets our minds. The devil can get you to steal, fornicate, drink and do drugs etc when he get your mind.

Satan knows the power of music to put information in our minds without our permissions, he is therefore seeking to STEAL and DESTROY the minds of God’s people through MUSIC.

 

Examples of music genres that has been designed by the devil to steal the minds of people in this generation include:  Hop Hip-Life, Reggae, Soul, Cools, Heavy Metal, Rock n Roll, Funk, R&B.

These are music that is made purposely to destroy the mind of our future leaders. Once we listen to these music, our brain process the information found in them, and just as we are transformed by God’s word when we hear it, these evil messages embedded in these music transforms the listener.

One he get your ability to reason, he will get you to do anything he want.

 

WHAT IS THE MESSEGE OF THIS MUSIC?

 

GUNS,

VIOLENCE,

 SEX,

 DRUGS AND MONEY

 

 

 

 

What is their purpose?

1. To steal the future of the youth by taking their minds from God: One the devil has got your mind, he will control you and your God given talent would be used for other worldly things thereby destroying the future of the youth. (Example: Kiki Gyan the organist)

2. To blur the existence and reality of the true and living God and to lead the youth into rebellion against the righteousness of God’s word. No wonder, the youth do not find any interest in church.

 

3. To steal the true “meaning” or “purpose” of existence from our youth and lead them to early death before they can fulfil their God given destiny.

                                WHAT DOES IT PRODUCE?

1. Youth with no purpose in life.

2. Youth with no respect for authority and with no parental guidance.

3. Youth with no regards for their bodies, appearance, self-respect or future.

4. Youths with anti social behaviours.

 

In Hip-Hop...

·         Prison is a good place. To be arrested and beat the rap makes you a hero

·         Teen pregnancy is accepted as the norm.

·         Sex is good. Having multiple partners okay.

·          Homosexuality and Bi Sexuality is normal and accepted.

·         God forgives sin, so it’s okay.

·          Foul language and physical abuse is accepted

·         Bad grades in school are okay.

·         Using drugs and drinking is accepted.

·         Murder is good thing, if you deserve it.

·         Being a thug is cool. Looking like you just robbed a bank is the norm

·         Large Cities claim that 72% of their school violence are gang related.

·         Between 1886 and 1996, total number of children killed by guns rose to 144%

HOW CAN WE OVERCOME THIS MIND DESTROYING MUSIC?

Speaking to yourselves on psalms and HYMNS and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the LORD. –(Ephesians 5:19)

 

2. PSALMS AND SPIRITUAL SONGS

‘Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in PSALMS and hymns and SPIRITUAL songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the LORD. (Colossians 3:16)

 

God want our bodies as a living sacrifices that is holy and acceptable, for that is our only reasonable service unto God. Romans 12:1

 

This is the time we have to make decisions and choices that are guided by God’s true WORD. This is the time to shun the devil’s music.

 

This is the time YOU make a Decision for Jesus Christ to be the LORD of your mind.

JESUS LOVES YOU, DON’T LET THE DEVIL DECEIVE YOU.

 

For the Devil came to KILL and DESTROY. But, Jesus came that you may have LIFE... And not just LIFE... But Life in ABUNDANCE.

 

 ‘Jehovah thy God is in the midst of thee, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love; he will joy over thee with singing’. (Zephaniah 3:17)
